Edina Day Baseball

Edina Pioneer Baseball

A league for players who are completing Kindergarten through 3rd Grade.

League VP – David Nelson ( )

Day Baseball League

Available to grades Kindergarten - 3rd Grade

League Director – Jim Nunn

Program Overview - Our goal is to help your son or daughter discover and develop their baseball talents.  We seek to provide this opportunity in a fun and positive environment that encourages young players to develop a love of the game.  The leagues are organized by school grade and players will play with their grade.

Why day baseball?  Given family schedules and other activities, along with the availability of fields, day baseball is a wonderful opportunity for our younger players to learn the game of baseball and improve their baseball skills. Edina Day Baseball has become a tradition in the community. Given that we play and practice during the day, it also allows convenient carpooling for parents and guardians.

All players must be Edina residents or attend school in Edina.  No tryouts required.

Play With Requests – The Day Baseball League makes every effort possible to place kids with their play with requests, although this is not always possible.

Coaching/Instruction

The Day Baseball coaching staff is led by Jim Nunn along with experienced teachers and coaches and assisted by enthusiastic Edina High School and college age baseball players.  Our coaches carry the belief that good coaching is good teaching, whether in the classroom or on the playing field.  For consistency in age groups, one set of coaches will work with an entire league, at a given field. The program at each grade level will involve practices and skill building and those events are incorporated into the published schedules along with games.

Player Expectation

We seek to provide a positive learning environment for all players in the Day Baseball League.  To accomplish this, we expect all players to be attentive, respectful of each other and the coaches, and arrive at the fields to be ready to play at their start time.  It is critical that the player arrives early enough to have their cleats on and ready to take the field on time.
